Russell J. Poel Scholarship

The Russell J. Poel Scholarship was established by the family, friends, faculty, and former students of Dr. Russell J. Poel as a lasting memorial to his long and dedicated service to North Central College. This scholarship is specifically for Chemistry and Biochemistry majors during their Junior and Senior years at North Central College.

First consideration will be given to students with demonstrated financial need and proven campus leadership and involvement. Applicants must be returning students, who have junior or senior status; must possess a cumulative 3.0 GPA; and must have declared Chemistry or Biochemistry as their major by submitting the appropriate forms to the Registrar.

An essay is required.

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Current North Central College students may apply
  • Applicants must be a Chemistry or Biochemistry Major (declared in the Registrar’s Office)
  • Applicants must have – as of Fall 2021 Semester – junior or senior academic standing
  • Applicants must possess a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher
  • An essay is required
  • First consideration will be given to students with financial need and proven campus leadership and involvement

The Russell J. Poel Scholarship is non-renewable.
