John W. Bean Scholarship (For the Service Volunteer Coordinator Position)
The John W. Bean Scholarship has been designated to make it possible for students to “give back” to society and to North Central College.
The scholarship is awarded based on funds available and on the eligible applicant(s)’s financial need, good academic standing, and history of volunteer service. Open to eligible applicants who will have sophomore, junior, or senior status as of the Fall 2015 Term. Volunteer work is required (30 hours per academic year).
Eligibility Criteria:- Student who as of Fall 2015 Term will have sophomore, junior, or senior academic standing
- Volunteerism is a requirement for this scholarship
Student Volunteer Coordinator internships are also available for those students who qualify. Student Volunteer Coordinator positions work closely with the Assistant Director of Ministry and Service to provide support to the staff of ministry and service to ensure a high quality of service. Eligible applicants will have a junior or senior status as of the Fall 2015 Term; will possess a cumulative 2.5 GPA or higher; will have the ability to work 10 hours per week; and will have a working knowledge of computer programs, such as MS Word, MS Excel, Facebook, etc.

If you have U.S. Citizenship or are an Eligible Non-Citizen, then filing the 2018-19 FAFSA is required for this scholarship. By answering "Yes" to this question, I understand, if selected as a recipient, I will be expected to volunteer at least 30 hours per academic year and will work closely with the Office of Faith and Action at North Central College to seek placement in a volunteer position or to record volunteer service that is done outside of the North Central College community. (Please note that recipients who are first-year students are exempt from the volunteer requirement during your first semester. However, in keeping with the intent of the scholarship, you will be expected to volunteer for at least 15 hours during the spring semester.)8.
