Cardinal Destination Course Abroad (CDCA) May Term Scholarship

A Cardinal Destination Course Abroad (CDCA) is a short-term, faculty-led course that takes place shortly after the spring semester ends during the month of May (May Term). Students travel internationally as a group with a North Central College faculty and staff member. Each May Term course abroad includes some prerequisite coursework to be completed in the spring semester before departure. The Cardinal Destination Course Abroad (CDCA) May Term Scholarship is designed to provide support for students who might not otherwise be able to take a course abroad. Any student enrolled in a May Term course abroad may apply for this scholarship. However, students who have not had the opportunity to travel/study abroad will be prioritized. The CDCA May Term Scholarship is funded by the Jacquelyn Lewis Wentz International Fund.

This scholarship will be awarded based on:

• Academic merit
• Financial need as determined by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), if eligible (For this year, since the 2025-26 FAFSA is not yet available, the current 2024-25 FAFSA on file will be used to help determine financial need.)

Scholarship Requirements:

• Current full time, undergraduate student
• Enrollment in a North Central College CDCA (May Term) course
• Good academic standing
• Financial need
• Copy of your Merlin transcript uploaded with this application

The CDCA scholarship is applied to the Summer term when CDCA program fees are charged. Students are notified by the Office of Student Accounts when the Summer bill is available. Any remaining balance after the scholarship is applied will be the responsibility of the student. Additionally, all students participating in a CDCA program are responsible for two deposits (the first $500 deposit in December and the second $500 deposit in January). The CDCA scholarship cannot cover a program deposit.

PLEASE NOTE: This scholarship will be awarded for this upcoming May. In most all other cases, the Academic Works portal lists scholarship opportunities for the following academic year. Please make sure to still complete the General Application based on your academic standing for next year as instructed so you may still qualify for other scholarships listed on the portal, which will evaluate your qualifications based on next year’s academic status. The review committee for this CDCA May Term Scholarship is aware that your General Application answers are based on next year.
