Norman and Rose Lewis Endowed Scholarship

The Norman and Rose Lewis Scholarship provides scholarship assistance to students who are active in the community, campus community, student government, theatre, newspaper, etc. This scholarship was designed to give an actively involved commuter student, without the financial means to live on campus, a chance to live on campus.

The Norman and Rose Lewis Scholarship is open to:

  • Returning, Full-Time Students,
  • Continuing students, who as of the upcoming fall semester, will have sophomore, junior or senior academic standing
  • Financial need is a requirement for this scholarship; therefore, if eligible, please file the FAFSA before the scholarship application deadline date
  • In addition to campus or community involvement, the student must also maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Must be a commuter student living with parents during the current academic year
  • An essay is required

AWARD AMOUNT:
The award amount varies each year and equals the cost to live on campus in a Res/Rec double-occupancy room and includes the standard 17 meals per week plan. If a different residence hall or meal plan is selected, the recipient will be responsible for any additional housing and food charges.

RENEWAL:
This scholarship is renewable for up to two additional years of undergraduate studies provided the recipient continues to meet the criteria of the scholarship. Students currently receiving the Norman and Rose Lewis Scholarship do not need to re-apply.

For RENEWAL candidates, the Office of Financial Aid will:

  • Verify that you still meet the criteria of the scholarship,
  • Verify that you have a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and
  • Verify that on-campus housing is assigned for the upcoming academic year.

  1. One of the criteria for the Norman and Rose Lewis Scholarship is that the recipient must have been a commuter student living with parents the year prior to receiving this scholarship. Since this scholarship application is for the NEXT academic year, please confirm that for the CURRENT academic year are you a commuter student living with your parent(s)?
  2. Please provide an essay (typed; 1 page double-spaced) explaining how living on campus would be beneficial and change your North Central College experience.
  3. THREE examples of Extracurricular Activities are required for this application. If already listed on the General Application, please enter "See General Application" in the space provided. If you did not already add THREE examples of Extracurricular Activities on the General Application, please return to the General Application and add them now. This application will be incomplete without them.
