Dr. Andrew J. Adams Scholarship for Classical Studies

Long-time faculty member, Dr. Andrew Adams began teaching at North Central College in 1970 as an instructor of classical studies. He also served as a hall director for 16 years and became a full-time professor in 1991. He taught at North Central for 34 years, retiring at the end of the 2003-04 academic year and received emeritus status at that time. In 2011, Dr. Adams was among the individuals in the North Central community honored with a Sesquicentennial Medal, a statement of his significant role on campus and a career that spanned more than three decades.

The purpose of the Dr. Andrew J. Adams Scholarship for Classical Studies is to provide financial assistance for students pursuing Classical Studies.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a continuing (currently attending) student at North Central College
  • Must be full-time
  • Must be in good academic standing with North Central College
  • Must be pursuing Classical Studies
  • Financial need
  • Recipients must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0
  • An essay is required.
    For consideration, candidates must write an essay (1-2 page, double-spaced) describing the following:
    1. How this scholarship will assist you in your academic endeavors
    2. Hopes for postgraduate education and/or research

This scholarship is not automatically renewable.
