Tracy and Derrick Malone Minority Scholarship

Tracy and Derrick Malone – alumni from the class of 1990 and 1993, respectively – have established the Tracy and Derrick Malone Minority Scholarship to financially assist an African-American student who contributes positively to the campus life at North Central College AND meets the following criteria.


  • Applicant must be full-time student
  • Applicant must be a returning student to North Central College, with sophomore, junior, or senior status as of the Fall 2020 Semester
  • Applicant must possess a cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Applicant must be African-American
  • Applicant must exude a positive influence on the campus community
  • Preferential consideration will be given to students with demonstrated financial need
  • An essay is required

Please note: If selected as the recipient, meeting and conveying your gratitude to the Donors is a requirement for receipt of scholarship funds.

  1. As a Continuing Student (currently attending North Central College), what will be your academic standing or classification at the start of the Fall 2020 Semester?
  2. Do you currently have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher?
  3. If you are selected as a recipient of this scholarship, will you be FULL-TIME (12-18 credit hours per semester) for the 2020-21 academic year?
  4. Please provide an essay (typed; one page) that addresses the following: "Why you believe you are a good candidate for this scholarship? List your academic achievement and campus involvement. How would receiving this scholarship help you attain your future goals/objectives."
