Dwight Lewis Legacy Scholarship

This scholarship is in honor and memory of Dwight Lewis. Dwight Lewis is an alumnus of North Central College class of 1965. His success in life is rooted in his motto “I am a product of education. I believe in education.” Dwight Lewis was a student athlete who majored in chemistry and mathematics and received his bachelor degree in mathematics. To this end, he has established a scholarship to demonstrate his strong belief in education and the support of students in Science (including Psychology), Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) related programs.

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria in order to be considered for this scholarship:

  • Black, African American student
  • Continuing North Central student with Sophomore, Junior or Senior status during the upcoming fall semester
  • U.S. citizen
  • Full-time student
  • Declared STEM related major
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and good academic standing
  • Recipient must be available to meet and thank the donor committee
  • FIRST PREFERENCE: Resident of Cook, DuPage, or Will Counties in Illinois

Application:

  • Submit application on Academic Works – no late or incomplete applications will be accepted
  • Essay is required (see below for Essay Question details)
  • Service and Activities, optional (see below for Service and Activities details)
  • Available for in-person interview
    PLEASE NOTE: All requested items for application must be present for the scholarship application to be sent to the scholarship committee for evaluation. If any required item is missing from your application, it will not be considered.
Essay Question:
  • What are your educational goals, and how will the scholarship help you reach your goals?
  • Essay must be a minimum of 250 and maximum of 500 words, double-spaced
  • Sentences must have proper punctuation and be grammatically correct
  • Essay is requested in PDF format and uploaded to the applicant’s application
Service and Activities (optional):
  • List community service and extracurricular activities and provide contact information
