Charles and Irene Luhring Kramer Endowed Scholarship

The Charles and Irene Luhring Kramer Endowed Scholarship was created to assist qualified full-time students who also work to provide for their education.

Charles Gilbert Kramer graduated from North-Western Academy in 1927, and from North Central College in 1931, where he was active in debate and athletics. In 1938, he graduated from the Evangelical Theological Seminary and was ordained in the Evangelical Church. Charles always worked throughout his schooling, providing a significant portion of his own financial support.

The scholarship provides annual financial assistance to one qualified candidate in the amount of $5,000. Funds may be used for tuition and fees, housing and food, and other necessities for the recipient’s specific course of study.

The scholarship is open to students in all fields of study at North Central.

The candidate must meet and maintain the following minimum qualifying criteria:

  • Be a full-time undergraduate with junior or senior status at NCC
  • Have a financial need
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic and be working on or off campus to support their education
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 in their major and 3.0 overall
  • Exude a positive character and influence
  • Be in good standing with the College

Candidates may apply by submitting an essay specific to their qualifications. The essay should also outline their goals and progress for the chosen course of study, describe their work/study program and the financial support it provides for their education, and address how the scholarship will affect this program.

The scholarship may be renewed for a second year, provided the recipient reapplies.
