Volunteers in Action Scholarship
Volunteers in Action was an organization designed to provide a framework to meet the needs of the community with a pool of dedicated volunteers. What made Volunteers in Action unique was that it provided volunteer services and fundraising expertise to numerous DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will county charitable organizations. The primary purpose of the Volunteers in Action Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students pursuing careers in health care or social service, including the ministry.
Recipients of this scholarship must reside in DuPage, Kane, Kendall or Will counties; must be full-time, maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA, and be pursuing a career in healthcare, social services and/or ministry.
Volunteerism is a requirement of this scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Students who are currently attending North Central College
- Full-time students
- Students who have/will have a sophomore, junior or senior status as of the upcoming fall semester
- Students residing in DuPage, Kane, Kendall, or Will counties
- Students who have and maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA
- Student who are pursuing a career in healthcare, social service and/or ministry
- Special attention will be given to those with financial need, but all students are encouraged to apply
- An essay is required
If selected, the recipient must engage in 30 hours of volunteer activities within the academic year that the scholarship is received. Please contact the Office of Faith and Action for more information on volunteering.
This scholarship is not automatically renewable.

- By entering my full legal name here, I (the applicant) signify that should I be selected as a recipient of a Volunteers in Action Scholarship, I am expected to volunteer at least 30 hours per academic year. Furthermore, I affirm that I will work with the Office of Faith and Action to seek placement in a volunteer position or to record volunteer service that is done outside of the North Central College Community.
