Samuel W. Hunt Jr. Memorial Scholarship

While not an alumnus of North Central College, Samuel W. Hunt, Jr. adopted the College as if it were his own. As a dedicated advocate for education, Sam joined the North Central College Board of Trustees in 1974 and became a Life Trustee in 2004. A banking executive with legal training, Samuel shared his considerable expertise in charitable giving and estate planning, and helped shape a vision for long-term financial support and stability for the College. He was also instrumental in helping North Central receive funds for the Richter Fellowships, which made a significant impact on undergraduate student travel and research, enriching their educational experience.

Described as life-long learners, the Hunt family established this scholarship to provide financial assistance for two full-time undergraduate students who meet the following criteria:

  • Must have junior or senior status
  • Any major within the School of Business and Entrepreneurship
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must come from a small or rural community outside of the Chicagoland area
  • Must require financial assistance in order to graduate from North Central College
  • First preference will go to a female student
  • First generation preferred
  • Protestant/Methodist preferred

For consideration, candidates must complete an essay, which answers the following questions(s):

  • Explain your commitment to education. How do you plan to take advantage of your North Central College experience?
  • Describe how this scholarship will assist you in earning your degree
  • Describe your plans after graduating from North Central College

This scholarship is renewable provided candidates reapply, send a letter of gratitude and a meet and greet with the donors, which will be determined at a later date.
