American Association of University Women (AAUW) Naperville Area (IL) Branch Scholarships
For over 50 years, the Naperville-Area Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) has provided scholarships to help undergraduate women obtain their degrees.
The Angeline Gale Scholarship (AG), established in 1971, is intended to encourage and support females or non-binary-presenting persons engaging in scholarly pursuits, even when their education may have been interrupted for various reasons. The awardee of this scholarship will receive $5000.
The STEM Scholarship (STEM) is intended to encourage and support females or non-binary-presenting persons engaging in scholarly pursuits in a STEM-related field, even when their education may have been interrupted for various reasons. The awardee of this scholarship will receive $5000.
Applicants for these scholarships must reside in or attend school in DuPage, Will, Kendall, or Kane Counties in Illinois. The scholarships can be awarded to part-time as well as full-time students who are in traditional or accelerated programs. The candidates may already be receiving financial aid.
In addition, applicants must: (a) be a female or non-binary presenting person at least 26 years of age for the Angeline Gale Scholarship; there is no minimum age for the STEM Scholarship ; (b) be enrolled in an associate’s or bachelor’s degree program at an accredited institution for the AG Scholarship, or be enrolled in an associate’s or bachelor’s degree program in a STEM-related field at an accredited institution for the STEM Scholarship; © have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 for the AG Scholarship, or have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 for the STEM Scholarship; and (d) EITHER (a) be on track to earn 30 semester hours or its equivalent, if enrolled in an associate’s degree program, with the intent to continue and complete their associate’s degree OR (2) be on track to earn 60 semester hours or its equivalent, if enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program, with the intent to continue and complete that degree.
The scholarship committee will choose several finalists to interview based upon their applications, personal statements, financial documents, and unofficial transcripts. Official transcripts will be required of all finalists.
