Richard and Mary Jo Lenert were the owners of Lenert Plumbing. A family owned business that was started by Richard’s father in the 1930’s. The Lenert’s sold the business to two long-time employees in 1992. Richard and Mary Jo had four children – Pamela Lenert, North Central College alumna ’76 ; Sandy Jo; Julie; and Shelly. The late Lincoln Domm was professor emeritus of anatomy at Loyola University’s Stritch School of Medicine . A 1921 graduate of Northwestern College (now North Central College), he conducted extensive research on endocrines in the physiology of reproduction and he was a pioneer in the study of steroids. In 1970, North Central College awarded Lincoln with an Outstanding Alumnus Award and in 1979 granted him an honorary doctorate. The Livia Grace Hubert Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Livia (Liv) Grace Hubert , daughter of North Central College alum Jacob Hubert ’98 and wife Kelly Hubert, who died from Sanfilippo Syndrome. Livia Hubert left a deep impression on all those around her in her brief ten years of life. Everyone who knew Liv speaks to her ability to influence others to be better people by inspiring those she encountered to be grateful, live each moment to the fullest, and make a difference in the life of others and the greater world . Dr. Lora Tyson embraced the simple but profound conviction, “nice matters”. A professor of education for nine years at North Central College, the late Dr. Tyson devoted endless hours to education students, in helping them prepare lessons, by assisting with the selection of instructional materials and/or in simply talking about the daily demands of being a student and young professional. Dr. Tyson was committed specifically to increasing the literacy background and experience of North Central College students and played a major role in the development of the department’s reading minor. Major General William Gossell ’54 led a successful career in the aviation industry and in the United States armed forces, proudly serving his country as a pilot for nearly three decades, both on active duty and in the reserves. Bill earned four letters in three sports at North Central College. After graduation, he began flight training as a naval aviation cadet. He was commissioned in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1955 and received his wings in 1956. Bill was on active duty for four years, including service in the Far East. He continued to serve in the military reserves and was honored to be

Martin Lang graduated from North Central College in 1959 and went on to receive a Master’s degree from the University of Kansas and a PhD from the University of Texas in Mathematics Education. He enjoyed teaching mathematics at the university level for over 35 years. Martin Lang was one of six children born and raised in Japan by German missionary parents and was extremely grateful to receive a generous 4 year scholarship from NCC . He would like the Martin Lang Scholarship to provide financial assistance to students interested in a career of teaching mathematics at any level.

Mary Lou Cowlishaw served the public in many ways throughout her life. She worked for more than a decade as a journalist for The Naperville Sun newspaper and later represented the 41st District for 20 years in the Illinois Legislature. A lifelong advocate for education for whom the elementary school in Naperville is named, the Mary Lou Cowlishaw Elementary School . As First-Generation students themselves, Mr. Zac Dougherty & Mrs. Erin Stephens attended NCC with little direction and even less financial support. They each worked multiple jobs to support themselves and their families during their time as students and know all too well the struggle to find direction.

The Naperville Chorus was founded in 1976 as an organization dedicated to the advancement of choral music, the encouragement of participation in group singing, the development of the appreciation of good music, the presentation of choral programs, and the encouragement of cultural music in the community. The Naperville Chorus has been fortunate to have Jeordano “Pete” Martinez as conductor and director of music, with Jon Warfel as assistant director.
