Lora L. Tyson Education Scholarship

Lora L. Tyson Education Scholarship

Dr. Lora Tyson embraced the simple but profound conviction, “nice matters”. A professor of education for nine years at North Central College, the late Dr. Tyson devoted endless hours to education students, in helping them prepare lessons, by assisting with the selection of instructional materials and/or in simply talking about the daily demands of being a student and young professional.

Dr. Tyson was committed specifically to increasing the literacy background and experience of North Central College students and played a major role in the development of the department’s reading minor. She is fondly remembered by students as a professor who not only cared about them as students, but also as people.

Dr. Tyson’s sons, Brent Tyson and Ian Tyson, created the Lora L. Tyson Education Scholarship in memory of their mother.
