Dr. Lora L. Tyson Education Scholarship

The Dr. Lora L. Tyson Education Scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Lora Tyson, who embraced the simple but profound conviction, “nice matters.” A professor of education for nine years at North Central College, the late Dr. Tyson devoted endless hours to education students. Dr. Tyson was committed specifically to increasing the literacy background and experience of North Central College students and played a major role in the development of the department’s Reading minor. Through this scholarship, Dr. Tyson is fondly remembered by students as a professor who not only cared about them as students, but also as people.

The scholarship is open to returning, full-time students, who will have a junior or a senior academic standing and who are majoring in Elementary Education.
Applicants may be requested to interview with faculty members in the Department of Education. An essay is required.
