Men with a Hardt for Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship is formed in honor of Marguerite Degenhardt, former Pre-Health Advisor at North Central College and Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. The goal is to help diversify the nursing field by encouraging and supporting young men and/or students of color to consider a career in the field. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students enrolled in the Pre-Nursing Program at North Central College.

  • First consideration will be given to a male-identifying, first-generation student enrolled in the Pre-Nursing Program with demonstrated financial need.
  • Second consideration will be for anyone enrolled in the Pre-Nursing Program who has financial need.

Candidates must answer the following essay question(s):

  • Nurses play a crucial role in every aspect of healthcare and are often the driving force behind change within the field. Why do you want to be a nurse? What change would you like to see, and how will nursing help you contribute to that change? What is your loftiest career goal?
